The New Mexico Military Museum is looking for two (2) Collections Interns for the Spring of 2025. Collections Interns will work with the Collections Manager on cataloguing and digitizing the collection. The Collections Intern will handle museum objects in accordance with museum best practices to input data into the museum’s collections software and appropriately mark and house objects for storage and possible future exhibit display. The Collections Intern will gain experience in collections management as well as other aspects of museum work around the New Mexico Military Museum as projects arise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work with Collections Manager to catalogue and digitize collections
· Safely handle objects in accordance with best practices
· Mark objects with collections number using appropriate tools and methods
· House and rehouse objects for long term storage
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Knowledge of Museum Collections Best Practices
· Attention to Detail
· Ability with work with little to no supervision
· An interest and knowledge in Military History is strongly preferred
· Have availability to work between 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M Monday-Friday
